The day we’ve been eagerly anticipating has finally arrived!! We’ve spent so much time planning this trip, and now we’re finally heading back to the Kimberley in Western Australia. It feels like a dream come true.

Matthew and I set off for Sydney airport, leaving the car in the undercover long-term parking. Leaving behind the chilly 1 degree weather in Moss Vale, I know that in just a few hours, we’ll be greeted by the warmth of over 30 degrees. It’s going to be quite a change, but I’m looking forward to it.

The flight in over the peninsula and low in over Cable Beach is amazing! We’ve only ever arrived by car, so it’s very cool seeing it from the air.

If everything goes as planned, Grant, Steve, and Ben will join us tomorrow afternoon. Matthew and I hop into a taxi and make our way to our accommodation for the next three nights. We decide to take it easy and enjoy a leisurely afternoon.

We venture into town to grab some breakfast supplies, and it’s amazing how quiet country towns can be on weekends. It almost feels like a ghost town, with many shops already closed by 2 pm.

To beat the heat, we decide to take a dip in the pool, but to my surprise, the water is quite chilly despite the scorching weather outside. It’s a refreshing experience! Afterward, we indulge in an early dinner at Matso’s Brewery, and a very early night to bed! It’s been a long day, and our bodies are slowly acclimating to both the temperature change and the two-hour time difference.

As we settle in for the night, I can’t help but feel grateful for the adventures that lie ahead. I’m excited to explore the wonders of the Kimberley and immerse myself in the beauty of the region.
